Holding Fast to Truth
In these critical last days, we find ourselves at a crossroads between two paths—one wide and crowded leading to destruction, and one narrow leading to eternal life. This powerful message challenges us to examine whether we truly hold fast to God's Word or merely give it lip service. Drawing from Genesis chapters 2 and 3, we revisit the Garden of Eden where deception first entered humanity. Eve's subtle addition to God's command—saying they couldn't even touch the fruit when God only said not to eat it—reveals how easily we can distort truth to fit our own understanding. This small deviation opened the door for Satan's complete deception. The parallel to our lives today is striking: when we add to, subtract from, or modify God's Word based on our preferences or lifestyle, we position ourselves for deception. The sermon reminds us that God's Word IS God Himself—when we seek answers, we must go directly to Scripture rather than relying on feelings or popular opinion. As 2 Timothy 4:3-4 warns, many in the last days will seek teachers who tickle their ears and excuse sinful behavior rather than preaching sound doctrine. We're called to be different—to be ambassadors who boldly proclaim truth, not argue opinions. Our silence in the face of deception allows darkness to prevail. The cure for spiritual death is in our hands; will we share it with a dying world?
